Aquatech Leak Specialists Respond to Drought – Saving More Than 300 Gallons of Water per Test

Testing for water leaks in a drought may seem like an oxymoron, but as specialists in solving water infiltration problems in building structures, Aquatech Consultancy, Inc., conducts water infiltration testing year round. The best time to test for water infiltration is actually when it is dry.

Water test standards and procedures unfortunately utilize a lot of water; typically five gallons per hour per square foot, which is problematic in a drought. Aquatech Principal, Charlie Saul recognized this conundrum and, determined to create a solution, developed the Water Savior™ recirculating system.*

Aquatech utilizes national testing standards; most commonly ASTM E1105**, which subject windows and installations to a simulated wind driven rainstorm in order to determine that they perform leak free for the given conditions, and as advertised. In order to obtain accurate and reproducible data, water spray racks, gauges and test equipment are calibrated and methodically operated.

Window water testing and similar wall and deck leak testing can require more than 350 gallons of water. Tests utilizing the Water Savior™ deliver the same amount of test water, but due to the recirculating process, can yield a net water usage of less than 10 gallons.

“Given the proper circumstances, we have developed a method that can save more than 90% of the normal water use by implementing our Water Savior™ recirculating system,” Charlie notes. “This methodology only requires a small amount more of our time to set up and run (typically less than an hour overall). It offers a dramatic savings in water expenditure, and provides a ‘green, environmentally responsible’ option for our clients,” he adds.

“Aquatech Consultancy endeavors to be an environmentally concerned company and a good steward of the planet’s natural resources,” Charlie notes. “We acknowledge that industry standardized water testing utilizes considerable water. Many of our clients are concerned with their water use, and how it reflects on their company’s culture and business ethic.”

It’s no surprise that with Charlie’s credentials, (RWC, REWC, RRC, RBEC), he has the knowhow and background to make it all work. As far as we know, Aquatech is the only leak detection firm that offers this water saving test option.
